COMIC CON REPORT!
Well, its been a while but I finally made it back to the office. I would like to apologize for the lateness of my San Diego Comic Con report but with traveling and having had to baby sit the Instant Area Reports page, I just didn’t have the time to get this down. I would like to first thank everyone who stuck out the recent war we had on going with a few "Trolls" on the IAR. We finally got the software we wanted and can now BAN anyone who happens to think its o.k. to be ASSININE! Many thanks to the AFTimes WEBMASTER for all of his hard work.

Next up is my take on the SDCC. I know its been over a week since the Con ended but I thought I would give you my perspective on the goings on. I try to look on this convention from a collectors point of view. Sure, there's nothing like being able to walk into booth after booth and have the personnel from the different companies recognize you and take the time to let you in on what's happening but the real treat is seeing the whole convention and the crowds and cool displays!

So, in we went. Randy, Julius and I spent a fair amount of time taking pictures of all of the main booths. McFarlane had some great 2 ups of the Tortured Souls, Spawn 22(now out) Kiss and other figures. Palisades was overflowing with Muppets! If you thought the Lab Set was great wait until you feast your eyes on the Kitchen set! Over 40 accessories and they all work. They also had plenty of the Disappearing Fozzie and were doing a great job of selling them to the hoards of collectors. Playing Mantis was there with the soon to be released series 2 Misfits toys. We got 3 of these and will show them next week. Needless to say Mama Santa, Skinny Santa and the Head Elf are very very nicely done. This is surely one of my most anticipated lines to see this year! Mattel was there with their He Man line. They had the most talked about exclusive at the show…the 1000 limited edition repaint of He Man. They ended up having raffle tickets for this. If your number was picked, then you had the opportunity to purchase one. Needless to say, most people went home empty handed!

For me, I liked the more off beat products. Here are a few of the ones I managed to get samples of: First are the Living Dead Doll Bar Glasses from www.crystaletching.com This company got the license to do these very nicely etched heavy duty bar glasses from Mezco. Each has an etched design of one of the first series dolls and comes in its own coffin like box. These were by far the coolest single item that I found at the show! If you are indeed a Living Dead Doll fan I highly recommend these!
